Iris Recognition Attendance System at a Mining Group

Iris recognition equipment was installed at the entrance and exit of mine shafts to monitor in real-time when coal miners enter and exit the mine, the number of underground shifts, shift changes, tardiness, early departures, and more, with classified and hierarchical summary capabilities.

Background

To strengthen the standardization of quality and management and maintenance work of the coal mine attendance management system, ensuring that the system plays its proper role, the mining group deployed iris recognition equipment in compliance with national regulations including the Coal Mine Safety Regulations and Specifications for the Use and Management of Underground Coal Mine Worker Management Systems.

System Architecture

The iris attendance management system adopts a two-level network construction mode:

  • Main System: Built at group headquarters, responsible for coordinating all equipment management and aggregating business data
  • Subsystems: Three mining areas (6th, 5th, and 12th mining areas) each built an attendance management subsystem
  • Structure: Two-level architecture of one main system and three subsystems

Subsystems are responsible for iris recognition equipment and attendance business applications of their respective mining areas, reporting business data and equipment information to the main system.

The system realizes classified storage and maintenance of business data, iris comparison result records (completing attendance), iris data storage in the database, and distribution of iris data templates to recognition equipment.
